.25/6.25 = .04 = 4% increase from 6.25 to 6.50
if you mean how much did a side of the square increase. That's 6.50-6.25 = 0.25
divide it by the original size of the square's side to get the % increase
But maybe you still want to know the % increase in the area of the square
the original area was 6.25^2 = 39.0625. the new area is 6.50^2 = 42.25
42.25 minus 39.0625 = 3.1875
3.1875/39.0625 = .0816 = 8.16% increase in size (area) of the square.
