y=mx + b is the general form of the equation, where m=slope and b=y intercept
if m=-2 and b =-2 then
y=-2x -2 is the equation with slope -2 and y intercept -2
when the equation is solved for y, then the coefficient of the x term is the slope and the constant term is the y intercept
