1.5 x 10^9 + 8.01 x 10^2
=1500000000 + 801 = 1500000801 = 1.500000801 x 10^9 = virtually the same 1.5 x 10^9. It's like adding a drop of water to the ocean. the volume is virtually the same.
calculators often use E to mean 10, it's an engineering term developed in 1958
if you meant scientific notation that's the answer
but if you meant something else, my guess is you wanted treat it as two points or vectors and add the x coordinates 1.5+8.01 = 9.51 and add E9 to E2 to get E11.
= (9.51,E11),
either way or another way, is it really 8th grade math? Is there more context to the problem?
