In responding to your question, I do think that there is a level of trust a student must have in their teacher in order to achieve optimum learning. However, I don't think it necessarily needs to be trust in that teacher's individual knowledge, as no teacher contains all aspects of knowledge in whatever given subject they are teaching. Instead, it is trust that the teacher is going to be honest in what they present, that they will present accurate information, and that they will research the best resources provide to the students for students to be able to pursue the knowledge they seek. It is more trusting the teacher to be an appropriate guide to knowledge, rather than trusting a teacher to be the source of knowledge.
