Significantly. The US lost so many soldiers in WW1 that it left our nation in absolute shock and spawned an isolationism that was extreme, to a great extent. While European nations struggled under the onslaught of the Nazis, the US basically looked the other way and abandoned our allies. It took Pearl Harbor to jolt our nation out of it's isolationism.
