Hi Elisa,
I noticed that the largest denominator you were dealing with was 16 in the mixed numbers.
So I converted all your mixed numbers into improper fractions.
11 3/16 = 179/16
9 7/8 = 158/16
8 9/16 = 137/16

5 5/16 = 95/16
The pattern that emerges is a decrease (subtraction) of 21/16 in each number in the sequence. Therefore that missing number should be 116/16, or to put it back into a mixed number, 7 1/4.
