Jim Crow laws which were established to continue the oppression of African-Americans. Share-cropping, a system in which families would rented land from a landowner and turn a portion of their crop into said landowner at each harvest, which was oppressive because it often resulted in African-Americans becoming deeply indebted to white landowners. Violence was rampant against African-Americans even after reconstruction, and there was little opportunity for economic advancement. Hope this helps!
