The quadratic y = 4(x - 3)2 - 3 is written in vertex form meaning we can read the vertex right off the equation. The x-value of the vertex is determined from the number grouped with the "x" so "-3" but you must think of "x" as Mr. Opposite so flip the sign and you get that the x-value of the vertex is 3. The y-value of the vertex you just read as the number on the back end so y = -3. That makes the vertex (3, -3).
The parabola opens upward because number in the very front is positive.
So think of a parabola with vertex at (3, -3) that opens up and you'll get something like this:
which crosses the x-axis twice. So it will have 2 zeros.
