Pre-Algebra: Your questions are welcomed and your mistakes are needed
A solution can be found using three different methods. The third may be the easiest you decide. :-)
Method 1: Graph it in a coordinate plane, any point one the line is a solution.
Method 2: Plug in zero and find the x and y intercepts
Y=2X +6
Plug in zero for y
0 = 2X + 6
-6 -6
-6 = 2X
/2 /2
-3 = x. The ordered pair (-3, 0) is one of many solutions for this line
Y= 2X + 6
Plug in zero x to find y intercept
Y = 2(0) + 6
Y = 6. The ordered pair (0,6) is another of many solutions
A third strategy is plug in play:
Chouse a number and plug it in. I choose 1 for x
Y = 2(1) + 6
Y = 8. The ordered pair (1,8) is a solution
There is one more strategy but I won't overwhelm you :-)
