One box contains 3/4 pound of cereal. One serving of cereal weighs 1/3 pound, how many servings of cereal are in the box?
--------
In order to get the serving count, you must figure out how many 1/3 pound's are in the box. In other words you are DIVIDING the box up into 1/3 pound pieces.....so.....
3/4 / 1/3 = # of servings in the box.......3/4 * 3/1 = 9/4 = 2 1/4 servings in the box.......CHECK YOUR WORK...
2 1/4 servings * 1/3 pound/servings = 9/4 servings * 1/3 pounds/servings = 9/4 * 1/3 pounds = 9/12 pounds
9/12 = 3/4 pounds.....right?
