Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
y = -5x +3
switch the x and y's and solve for y
x=-5y + 3
5y = -x +3^
y = (-1/5)x + 3/5
f^-1(x) = (-1/5)x + 3/5 is the inverse function
It reverses what f(x) does to x
for example let x=1
then f(x) = f(1)=-5(1) +3 = -5+3 = -2
and f^-1(x) = f^(-2) = (-1/5)(-2) + 3/5 = 2/5 + 3/5 = 5/5 = 1
you started with 1 and got y= -2
then you go from -2 back to 1, using the inverse function
