Unfortunately, we're given the x-intercept instead, so we have to find the y from there. Now let's apply what we know about the slope. The slope of 1/3 means that for every point upwards, the line moves 3 to the right (rise over run). Now let's try using point-slope form to derive slope-intercept form. Point slope form is y-y1=m(x-x1). Now let's plug in the numbers.
y-0=m(x-6)
y-0=1/3(x-6)
y=1/3(x-6)
y = x/3 - 2
