When you say claim are you referring to the actual research behind the study or the result of the study? Just so I am clear?

Neither the claim would be the hypothesis that comes before the study is done. For example if I said tall people are happier then did a study on if tall people like roller coasters. The claim being made is not benefitted by the study I've done.
