the 1.2 is a scale factor. You still must multiply by the basis volume of the KCl source, namely x 10mL, for 12 mL as your answer.

asked 12/15/20I have to do a math problem that requires to calculate fluid. I'm not sure what i did wrong or if i missed a step in this calculation.
The doctor orders 6 mEq of potassium chloride (20 mEq/10 mL) per 250 mL of IV fluids. What volume will you add to a 1 L bag of fluids?
My solution:
6 mEq x 4 = 24 mEq
24 mEq / 20 =1.2 mL
