Math and science made easy - learn from a retired engineer
Let "C" be the total cost of renting the car. Let "m" be the number of miles driven. Let "d" be the number of days the car is rented for.
So the equation for Cost (C) would be:
C = 25d + 0.15m (that's $25 times the number of days plus $0.15 times the number of miles driven).
We are told that d = 1 and that C = $75.30 so plugging those in we get:
75.30 = 25(1) + 0.15m or
75.30 = 25 + 0.15m
