'else' statement error in Java

Question

I'm trying to write this code and I keep getting the error: Syntax error on token "else", delete this token. Yes, I've tried using {brackets} and pretty much everywhere I search online, it says that the problem occurs if brackets are not used. But I've used brackets, and the program still wouldn't compile and gives me the same error. I'd like a list of problems that could be causing that error, I hope that'd be more useful.

The opening and closing brackets could be out of balance and mismatched...
