The devolution of the monarchy began when the Lords forced King John to sign the Magna Carta in 1215 which was the start of the limitation of monarchial powers. This was furthered by the Glorious Revolution which brought in Mary and William of Orange as Monarchs due to their agreement of the further limitation of their monarchial powers to Parliament and the signing of the English Bill of Rights which guaranteed rights to citizens.
