Encoding Specificity.
Encoding specificity states that " human memories are more easily retrieved if external conditions (emotional cues) at the time of retrieval are similar to those in existence at the time the memory was stored".
For example, if you sit at a certain desk in a classroom to learn a subject, when you go to take the test you will perform better on the test sitting in that specific desk as opposed to sitting at a desk in the other area of the room.
