The nervous system is can be broken down into two major topics: Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous System.
Central Nervous System: This will consist of Brain and Spinal Cord. These areas will work in tandem for motor movement, interpretations of senses, such as pain and vision, etc. Memory and learning, language, executive functioning, spatial orientation, are all examples primary functions carried out CNS.
Peripheral Nervous System: Outside of CNS. These neurons take input sensory information from the environment (e.g. temperature, pain, smell, etc.) and allows CNS to make sense of what is going on. It also helps regulate things that we are not conscious about controlling on our own (automatic actions) such as breathing and heart rate.
