The nervous system allows us to process sensory information, interpret pain, danger, temperature, etc. It helps us control impulses, learn new information, communicate with others, and physically move. It also helps us regulate internal bodily functions such as heart rate and breathing.
If it were not for these functions, we would not be able to learn when something is painful to learn from that event, and avoid that in the future (evolutionary approach). If you cannot control breathing and heart rate, I think that is pretty self-explanatory what impacts it would have if the nervous system was not able to automatically control those functions.
Hope this helps, and feel free to reach out for 1:1 tutoring with these topics in Psychology!

Without the nervous system , a human being or any living being is not complete, a human being becomes a vegetable so to speak. A coma is when the central nervous system shuts down. Although the autonomic nervous system is still working. If that shuts down then a body is dead. The major functions of the nervous system are autonomic i.e. running the body systems. And the higher cognitive functions of the central nervous system, that maintains our personality. Mostly described as being oriented in time place and person.09/27/20
