A biological perspective looks at changes in behavior from a viewpoint that there is a physiological dysfunction that is causing the change. Due to stigma of seeking mental health, this applies a medical approach to explaining changes in personality, behaviors, cognition, etc. It is easier to seek help because there is a correlation to physical changes in brain/nervous system and/or genetics. For example, the famous case of Phineas Gage. The rod damaged his frontal lobes, and that caused changes in his impulsivity and lack of inhibition. This particular perspective allows the use of neuroimaging to determine if there are changes in brain anatomy that can be causing the psychological dysfunction.
