In my experience the "hidden bonus" of studying psychology was the understanding of why the people around me acted in certain ways. It helped me step back and take a rational approach in dealing with those around me and has certainly changed the way I interact with others. That beings said, there are also some great career options in psychology, and I have been pleasantly surprised with the jobs I have been offered/ have worked in!
