So, I will give one example, and then please use mine to come up with your own, okay?
The classical conditioning process has 4 parts: the CS (Conditioned stimulus) US (Unconditioned Stimulus), CR (Conditioned Response), and the UR, (Unconditioned Response).
Say you want to stop your child from biting their nails. So you paint their nails with bitter-tasting nail polish meant for that purpose. Soon, your child stops biting their nails, even when they aren't wearing the polish. This is a result of classical conditioning.
Your child doesn't like bitter flavors and avoids them. The US is the bitter flavor. The UR is avoiding the bitter flavor. The CS is the nail polish, and the CR is not biting the nails. The CS (Nail polish) was paired with a bitter flavor (US) and this pairing made a connection in the child's mind between biting nails and bitter flavors in their mouths. So now they'll avoid biting their nails the same way they've always avoided bitter flavors. The pairing is key. Does that make sense?
