The Thomas Theorem states that our behavior is not due to our objective experiences of reality but rather, our subjective experiences of reality. In simpler terms, the outcome of a situation is determined by our personal response to it, not "reality" itself. A great example that has been used in the past is as follows; if a teenager is labeled as a "deviant" they are more likely to become deviant by adhering to that label and acting it out in society.
