I'll show you the first one. Then see if you can do the next two.
In each of the first 3 questions, you can use x, x + 1, and x + 2 for the 3 consecutive integers.
The word "sum" means to add them.
So x + x + 1 + x + 2 = —96
Then 3x + 3 = —96.
Subtract 3 from both sides so 3x = —99 and x = —33.
The 3 numbers are —33, —32, and —31. The answer is the largest (highest) one which is —31.
Now you should be able to do the 2nd and 3rd questions.
I will start you on the 4th one. Let x = number of mollies. Then (1/2)x = number of goldfish and
(1/2)x + 6 = the number of copies. See if you can write an equation and solve it.
