Looking for an experienced, compassionate, knowledgeable ONLINE tutor with a low hourly rate? After graduating with honors in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a PhD in mathematics education. I also have New York State teacher certification for grades 7-12.

Looking for an experienced, compassionate, knowledgeable ONLINE tutor with a low hourly rate? After graduating with honors in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a PhD in mathematics education. I also have New York State teacher certification for grades 7-12.

I have taught and tutored math in grades 5, 8-12, community college, and university. I have experience with everything from prealgebra to linear algebra and multivariable calculus. Many other tutors only have limited experience teaching the actual courses that they tutor.

I currently focus on honors algebra 2, AP math courses in precalculus, calculus, and statistics, and the SAT (scored 800) and ACT math. I also tutor prealgebra, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as well as multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, probability, and statistics.

In 2001, I was selected as the Maryland College Math Teacher of the Year. I am the author of a college math textbook for training math teachers that has been used by about 100,000 students.

I really enjoy teaching and tutoring mathematics. I have done it my entire adult life. I emphasize understanding concepts and use interesting applications to motivate students. My tutoring matches the unique skill level and personal needs of each student. I hope you will consider hiring me.

The best tutor/teacher I ever had; Very knowledgeable, intelligent, patient, and affordable tutor

Tom S. taught me not only to understand Calculus, but to enjoy it. Tom allowed me to have fun and learn. Because of Tom’ help I received 100% on my final AP Calculus AB grade and got 5 on my AP Calculus Exam. Tom was able to answer all of my questions, even the hardest Calculus problems Tom would know the answers to from the top of his head. Tom is an amazing tutor and a wonderful person. For every lesson, I compile a file with SAT questions that I do not understand so I can review them with Tom. This is a very efficient way of prepping because that way we can focus on improving my understanding of problems that do not make sense to me rather than go over ones I already do understand. Tom always provides in-depth explanations with visual examples of a variety of math problems; he's helped me understand a great deal of practice questions ranging from trig, pre-calc, statistics, graphing, and different math formulas!
