An alternative way to solve the problem is by using properties of Logs.
- log3(16x + 1) = log3(x - 4) + 4
- log3(16x + 1) - log3(x - 4) = 4 Put the logs on what side since they have the same base
- log3((16x + 1) / (x -4)) = 4 Combined the logs into one log using division property
- (16x + 1) / (x - 4) = 34 Put 3 as a base for both sides to cancel out the logs
- 6x + 1 = 81x - 324, Solve for x
- Solving for x you get x = 5
