Using と to connect adjectives

For connecting sentences with adjectives, it seems the te-form of the adjective has to be used, but can と be used as well?

Are both of these correct?

Does it make a difference if と is used to connect to related items when they are not nouns?

Susi S.

Only the second sentences is correct. If you switch the position of the adjectives, you would use で because きれい is a な-type adjective. これは きれいで 大きいです。
