About David

Bio

I am a newly licensed Japanese teacher in the state of Massachusetts. I have spent 14 years tutoring Japanese both privately and in a university tutoring center. I also co-taught a university level Japanese class as part of my duties as a teaching assistant and I’ve TA'd for classes in Japanese literature and writing intensive courses as well.

I first became interested in Japanese through manga and anime although I didn't start studying the language in earnest until I was 21 or 22. I started...

I am a newly licensed Japanese teacher in the state of Massachusetts. I have spent 14 years tutoring Japanese both privately and in a university tutoring center. I also co-taught a university level Japanese class as part of my duties as a teaching assistant and I’ve TA'd for classes in Japanese literature and writing intensive courses as well.

I first became interested in Japanese through manga and anime although I didn't start studying the language in earnest until I was 21 or 22. I started off with a year of self-study before enrolling in classes.

Since then, I have studied abroad in Japan for a year, passed the JLPT N2, earned a Master's Degree in the language and worked in Miyazaki Prefecture, teaching English for three years.

I am currently working toward passing the JLPT N1 and ACTFL's OPI at the advanced level.

I tutor Study Skills, ESL and Writing as well.

Very helpful and patient tutor with great explanations and study resources

David was very helpful in helping me review for my JLPT N3 exam. I wanted a tutor that could provide me with specific tips for preparing for the test and with study resources that I could use to my advantage, and David provided precisely that. I was able to review a lot, and he helped me gain confidence in my Japanese knowledge in order to pass the test. I would highly recommend David as a tutor for anyone who wishes to practice and improve their Japanese skills with a patient and knowledgable tutor

Reliable, adaptable, and kind.

I'm a high school student leaving for international exchange in Japan in a few days. As preparation for the trip and to sharpen my Japanese skills before I left, I took tutoring under Rubino-sensei. He was reliable, adaptable (especially with my rapidly shifting schedule), and kind. I'm far more confident with my Japanese skills now than I was when I started studying under his wing, and I would personally recommend his tutoring services to anyone looking to improve their Japanese skills.
