To find numbers that multiply to give -24 and add to give -10, let's find the factor pairs of 24
Factor Pairs of -24:
-1 x 24
-2 x 12
-3 x 8
-4 x 6
or
1 x -24
2 x -12
3 x -8
4 x -6
Now, if we take those factor pairs, and add them together, we can see which one adds to give you -10.
Sum of factor pairs:
-1 + 24 = 23
-2 + 12 = 10
-3 + 8 = 5
-4 + 5 = 1
1 + -24 = -23
2 + -12 = -10
3 + -8 = -5
4 + -5 = -1
From there, we can see that 2 + -12 = -10, so the two numbers to answer your problem will be 2 and -12
