Pablo used 1/2 of an oxygen tank while scuba diving. He used another 1/6 of the tank exploring underwater. How much oxygen is left in the tank?

Pablo dives, and uses up 1/2 of the tank. He is left with only 1/2 of the tank. Then he explores and uses 1/6 of the tank. But he had only 1/2 of a tank to start exploring with, so you have to subtract 1/6 of a tank from 1/2 of a tank to get the amount left. 1/2-1/6 = 3/6-1/6=2/6=1/3. So 1/3 of a tank remains.
