Hello Manahil,
You can approach this essay topic very philosophically. There are plenty of historical and everyday examples of both everyday people and political figures all over the world (particularly world leaders, individuals who spearhead social movements, even religious figures) who were/are more fortunate than others in some fashion (intellectually, academically, economically, etc.) and [have] used their privileges to create a form self-proclaimed power over other people who were less fortunate in some way to the point where the more fortunate begin to condescend upon the less fortunate.
You can learn more about these individuals, historical time periods, and the underlying human-social elements that have provoked such intellectually-driven motives to arise by using your own life experience, the life experiences of others in your midst, and drawing upon noteworthy examples to include and elaborate upon in your project. You can also interview people you know who are perhaps older than you and grew up in a different time than you did. They would provide tremendous insight into how the emphasis on intellect (or lack thereof) has changed considerably from generation to generation both in the United States of America and in other countries all around the world.
At this time, since all public libraries are closed, much of your textual research will likely have to be conducted online. As long as you obtain some in-depth, accurate primary sources of information online, along with your own knowledge and human resources like those identified above, you should be good to go! Good luck with your project! I think the topic is not only timely, but also valuable when it comes to the present and future outlook of the human race on an intellectual level.
