Solution:
where a and b are the two numbers
( a + b ) = 3 ( a - b ) let a be the greater number and b the lesser number then, a = 5 + b
expand first equation, a + b = 3a - 3b, rearrange a - 3a = -3b - b,
-2a = -4b, a = 2b
a = 2b .... eq1
a = 5 + b ...eq 2
set a = a, 2b = 5 + b, 2b - b = 5, b = 5, a = 2(5)=10
