Hello Gon,
One way that I think would be effective to approach this type of problem is put it into more relatable terms. Something that I feel more familiar with is referring to things in a single unit, in this case figuring out how many km per hour rather than knowing 46 km in 4 hours.
To find out the base rate (X km per hour), we would divide 46 by 4 to find hour much distance was covered in the hour. We get that each hour, they go 11.5 km.
Now we can create a proportion. We need to find how many hours, so let's use the variable H to represent it. ---> 11.5 km * H = 69 km. Then we divide both sides by 11.5 km, and only the H remains on the left side of the equation and 69 km/11.5 km is on the right side of the equation and will be how many hours it took.
When it's all done, we see that H = 6, and that the missing number is 6 to complete the proportion.
