First we must plug in the numbers given into the following formula : y1 - y2 = (x1-x2)m
By doing so we get: 9-y2 = (14-x2)(1/2)
after subtracting the 9 from both sides and multiplying the (14-x2)(1/2) we get: -y2 = -2-(x2/2)
the final step is to divide by the -1 so we get : y2 = 2 + (x2/2)
to put in the y = mx + b form all we have to is move the (x2/2) in front of the 2 to get : y = x/2 + 2
