I'm currently attending UAH. My major is mechanical engineering.
The general equation is the following: y = a(x - h)2 + k
Since the function shifts 3 units to the right, h = 3. Since the function goes down 8 units, the k value would be -8. It is -8 because the function is going down. the value of 'a' was not specified in this problem, so you would just assume it is 1.
Plugging these values back in the general equation will give you the following answer:
y = (x-3)2-8 or choice A
