The scientific methods contains a question, hypotheses, experimental set-up, data, results, and conclusion. Usually, after you observe something you can come up with a question.
So you OBSERVE your plants inside your house are wilting. You make a prediction that if you place this plant under the sun it will grow faster.
Then you set up an experimental design:
So you decide to test the growth of the plant by putting it on the edge of the window, under a light bulb, and in a dark room. You record the plant's growth each week. So one week you keep the plant under the sun and record your results everyday. The next week you put the plant under the light bulb and record the plant's height for those 7 days. You repeat the same experimental design again when you place the plant in the dark.
Your independent variable would be the type of energy (light energy) the plant receives ( what you control)
Your dependent variable would be the plant's height
You record all of your results and you make a graph (line, bar-- whatever works best to show your results).
