in point slope form the general equation is y-h=m(x-k) where the y intercept is h and the slope is m
for y=7x -6, m=7=the slope and -6 = h = the y intercept or in point form (0,-6) = (x,y)
answers are: 7 and (0,-6)
another method to find the y intercept is let x=0 and substitute that into the equation
y=7x-6
y=7(0)-6
y=0-6
y=-6
x=0, y=-6 is the point (0,-6)
the y intercept always has an x coordinate of 0
If you had wanted the x intercept, you'd set y=0 and solve for x
0=7x-6
7x=6
x=6/7
that's the point (6/7, 0)
