x1 = 1
y1 = 5
x2 = 3
y2 = 11
x3 = 7
y3 = y
First, find the slope from
m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
Plug in the numbers and get m. Then get y from either of the equations below, which all have the same slope m which you found in the step above:
(y - y2) / (7 - x2) = m
Solve this for y. You can also get y from
(y - y1) / (7 - x1) = m
This works because it is the same slope everywhere along the line.
