One number is 11 less than another. If the sum is increased by eight, the result is 83. Find the numbers.

Let the smaller number be n

Then the 2nd number is n + 11

n + (n + 11) + 8 = 83

2n + 19 = 83

2n = 64

n = 64/2 = 32 ==> n+11 = 43

The two numbers are 32 and 43.

Check: 32 = 43-11 (ok)

32+43+8 = 75+8 = 83 (ok)
