Hi there! I'd love to help you out
Let's say our blue t-shirts are "x". It says he sold three times as many white shirts as blue shirts. So to find the number of white shirts we multiply 3 times our blue shirts "x".:
x = blue shirts
3x = white shirts
Now it says he sold a total of 40 shirts. So if we add up our blue and white shirts we get 40:
x + 3x = 40
4x = 40
/4 /4
x = 10 blue shirts
3*10=30 white shirts
So he sold 10 blue shirts and 30 white shirts. I hope this explanation was thorough and answered all of your questions. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Learn on! :)
