The perimeter is the sum of all 3 sides = 2(3x-1)+2x-1 = 6x-2 +2x-1 = 8x-3
8x-3=55
8x=55+3=58
x=58/8= 29/4
the short side of the triangle is 2x-1 = 2(29/4)-1 = 29/2 - 1 = 27/2 = 13 1/2
the other two sides = 3x-1 = 3(29/4)-1 = 87/4-1 = 83/4 = 20 3/4 each
twice 20 3/4 = 83/2 plus 27/2 = 110/2 = 55 = the perimeter
Main equation for the perimeter is 8x-3=55 = sum of the 3 sides=perimeter
double two longer sides plus shorter side = perimeter
or 2(20 3/4) + 13 1/2 = 55
or 83/2 + 26/2 = 55
or 166/4+54/4 = 55
