An antibody is a protein molecule that is created by immune system cells (B cells / plasma cells). The antibodies are able to pair with "antigens" on the invading cells in order to help the body to get rid of or destroy them. Antibodies are also referred to as immunoglobulins, and we call the 5 types IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE, and IgD.
