What are some good techniques for studying Physiology?

Not sure how to study all this info and get it to stick with me. Right now I am working on the muscle and cardiovascular system.

Hello Shelbie! For me a personal strategy that I used is breaking down everything into systems. For whatever area you are studying, start with the big picture of that system and work towards breaking it down to the smallest details that make that system function. Then based on the depth to which you need to learn a certain subject (based on your course of study) you can gauge how "in the weeds" you get with the fine details.

Physiology is really fun. Please try to classify the information in smaller components. For example: types of muscles, their similar and specific properties, their composition and the differences in composition based on the muscle type, their specific and general electrophysiological properties, their regenerative abilities and their common as well as special functions.

 

Cardiovascular system is one of the most important system in human body. You may classify its primary components: atria, ventricles and valves in the heart, major blood vessels, properties of their walls, functions and proerties of cardiac muscle and so on.

 

Such approach should help you from getting overwhelmed with the information and you are likely to remember it better.
