Calculate values from a know triangle

Question

If you have a known triangle, where x and y is known as well as its got a right angle. So this would allow you to calculate c (hypotenuse) easily. The question is, for this known triangle if you take a value of y2 between 0 and y, what would be the value of x2 be.

Referring to your picture, the x and y values define a slope for the hypotenuse: m = -Y/X.

Using this, we can write the equation for the hypotenuse: y = Y + mx = Y - (Y/X)*x

So y2 = Y - (Y/X)*x2
