American History Will Come Alive For You!
Champlain, being French, had allies with the First Nation tribes against the Iriquois consolidation of five tribes which fought for the British. The French fur trappers, like Champlain made a lot of friendships with the Native Americans, while the Iriquois were appreciative of the British and how they treated them. When Champlain and his Native American friends, the First Nations tribes built the fort on the lake that bears his name, Fort Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain, it wouldn't be long before Ticonderoga became a British possession and an object of opposition between the British and Americans.
