The price of the equipment is before the 6% sales tax, represented by x.
$900 is the final cost after tax. This is the price of equipment, with 6% tax, to generate $900.
To include sales tax to a cost, just multiply cost by (1 + tax) -> (1 + .06) = 1.06:
1.06 * x = 900.
Divide 900 by 1.06 to find your answer:
x = 900 / 1.06 = $849.05
$849.05 is the price of the equipment. Hope that helps!

Note: you cannot take away 6% from 900 to get the answer. Example: 900/ 0.94 will not result in the same answer.12/26/19
