I agree with this statement. Magnitude measures the relative size of an earthquake, relative meaning how does the size of the earthquake compare to others. We live on top of geographical plates that are always in motion, moving away from or towards one another. Thousands of eathquakes happen daily because of these movements, yet are rarely felt or cause damage. The more severe the movement, the more the earthquake is felt and it holds more capacity for damage.
