Find the dimension

A rectangular room is 1.8 times as long as it is wide. It’s perimeter is 26 meters. Find the dimension of the room. Round answers to the 2nd decimal places,

Let l and w be the length and wide of the room. Based on the first sentence, we have l = 1.8w. Based on the second sentence, we have 2l + 2w = 26. You can substitute from the first equation into the second to get 2(1.8w) + 2w = 26. Now simply solve for w, then plug that number back into either of the first two equations to get l. (I get w = 4.64 meters and l = 8.36 meters.)
