Company A chargers $3.50 per month plus $0.15 per text. Company B charges $6.00 plus $0.10 per text. How many texts would make the two plans cost the same amount?

How would you set up the equation?

Thanks! Helped with my math homework. Didn’t want to get the full answer (so I could do it myself) but was confused out of my mind on the equation. Thanks a lot!

So, the question asks for when the two plans would be the same, or "equal." Plan A: You would pay $3.50 per month, plus $.15 for every text you make during that month. Plan B: You would pay $6.00 per month, plus $.10 for every text you make during that month. So, set up your equation: 3.50 + .15T = 6.00 + .10T Solve for T (number of Texts): T=50 That means that if you made exactly 50 texts each month, it woudn't matter which plan you chose. If you make 51 or more texts a month, Plan B is cheaper for you. If you make fewer than 50 texts each month, Plan A would be cheaper. Try it! Plug in some numbers for "T" and see for yourself!
